Sergeant Joe Cougan was a tough Para who had seen a lot of action and who didn’t suffer fools gladly. Which was unfortunate for Private Andy Bruce, a clumsy youngster whom Cougan considered the world’s biggest fool. Sergeant Sam Gleeson tried in vain to get his arch-rival Cougan to give Andy a break. But there came a day when Cougan’s life was in Andy Bruce’s clumsy hands.
