Every Commando… almost every soldier come to that… is trained to kill. And in Britain’s fight for survival in the 1940s, these highly-trained experts were doing their best to save countless lives and free Europe from cruel Nazi domination.

Ernest Hallows, civilian policeman, knew all this as well as the next man, but now there had been a murder on his patch – one Commando had turned out to be a rogue killer who didn’t care what side his victims were on. So that made it Ernie’s business… a slow, thoughtful 50-year-old detective pitted against a 25-year-old killing machine!
