Fred Gates had served in Burma during the Second World War and then Korea in the early 1950s. Now he was fighting an even more dangerous campaign in the guerrilla‑infested jungles of Malaya where every tree or bush could hide a killer.

But these killers were about to find out what the Japanese and Chinese already knew —that Fred Gates was a hard man to kill!
